The struggle was real. I was working round the clock in 2013 when I started my food blog on a free Wordpress site. I knew I had a passion for health but it was actually much more than that. I had a passion for helping people live their fullest potential.

I was working a non-profit agency job, underpaid and overworked, As a psychotherapist, I was moved that many of my clients were making massive shifts themselves. Our conversations were the catalyst for monumental positive change in their health. I knew I wanted to bring this level of energy and passion to the online space, so I founded Clean Forks and the rest was history.

Over the next two years I studied the best courses and with the most knowledgeable coaches. Once I started making consistent money and became a full time entrepreneur in early 2015, I came up with a formula - 8 key ways to optimising your health coaching business. It was something specifically created for health coaches to grow their business and make great money online, which I’ll be sharing with you today.

The first thing you must know if you want to make money as an online health coach is that your business is an expression of the value you bring into the world. How do you ensure you stand out from all other health and wellness coaches?

1.     Know your goals

I cannot tell you how critical this is. Every business needs projections. You must create a well-defined plan to anticipate the needs of your clients.

2. Communicate

Like any great relationship, communication is key. Communicate with your tribe via email, video, blog posts, or audio. How often should you communicate with your tribe? I like to send out a newsletter a couple of times a week to communicate value, provide helpful tips and useful resources. The more open and vulnerable you are the more your audience will get to know, like and trust you.

There is no one right way to do this. The key is to stay connected in a genuine way that truly adds value to somebody’s life, business, etc.

3. Nail your sales

A business is nothing without a sales conversation that actually serves your clients. Mastering the sales conversation can feel like a big task if you’re not great at it, but it doesn’t have to be. Just keep practicing, plain and simple. Finding a mentor who is great at sales is a huge plus.

When you look at sales as a way to facilitate a goal, you don’t get attached to the outcome. A good sales conversation is one in which you support your client to identify the best choice for them. It’s win/win!

4. Clear branding

Branding builds recognition for what you do. Presenting yourself in the clearest way possible will make you recognisable and memorable. What do you want to be known for? If you’re just starting out, remember to keep it simple.

5. Emotional smarts

There will be highs and there will be lows! When you can effectively take care of yourself, you can take care of others. You must be able to regulate your own emotions to withstand the challenges of owning and running a business. Set healthy boundaries for yourself to keep your energy fresh and prevent burnout.

6. Innovate

Every successful business innovates. Ask yourself not just how you can be different, but how you can do it better. Help your tribe think differently about the problem you’re helping them solve. Your audience will remember you because you helped them change the way they think and in turn feel more hopeful about reaching their goal.

7. Systems that work

Every successful business has systems in place. Period. You must be organized and able to find the right information you need to make the right decisions in your business. Most importantly, you must be able to replicate it often and almost effortlessly.

8. Lead

Develop leadership skills to become a leader in your own industry. If you lack skills in this area, find a mentor who you trust to help you grow. True leadership requires having vision and following through even in times of difficult challenges.
